Speaking of first time--in one day, Sammi experienced her first airplane ride; her first view of the ocean (from the air or on the ground!); her first train ride; her first subway ride; her first squid; and her first gelato! It was quite a day!!
Here we are working on the computer while waiting for our plane in Salt Lake City. Sammi was so amazed at how big the planes were! She was a little concerned that they wouldn't actually be able to get off the ground!
We are up in the air! Sammi took a lot of pictures of the two of us as we made our way across the world. She was so excited and had this huge grin on her face all of the time!
Just hanging out at the Paris airport and then back on another plane to head to Rome.
Larry and Sammi were so happy to see each other and stuck close together on the metro ride.
I still have not been able to master the getting a drink out of the old Roman faucets, but after one quick lesson Sammi was a master.
This is the plate that Sammi and Larry shared from the buffet. See the little squid? Yep, she ate it! She loves to try new things, but found out that calamari isn't her favorite! She also had her first real Italian pizza and her first gelato that night!
On our way to the Vatican we asked one of the Swiss Guards if she could have her picture taken with him and he said OK.
After exploring St Peter's we decided to climb to the top of the dome. I wanted to climb the whole way, but Larry talked us into taking the elevator for the first half. I think I thanked him a thousand times before the day was over! Here is Sammi at the top with Rome behind her.

She is determined to come back to Italy so she threw her 3 coins into the Fountain of Trevi!
I can see that this will be a long blog and a lot of work so I will stop tonight with Rome. I will pick up with local towns, Siena, Florence, and Venice. Stay tuned!!

Sammi actually has seen the ocean! She must not remember, but we stopped and fed squirrels near the ocean in California.

You and Larry must be expert tour guides by now. Still can't twist Larry's arm hard enough for him to relent and visit Sicily. I think he was dropped on his head a s a child. Cousin Nick calls him Scarry Larry-affectionately. They kid each other.
