In November we purchased 32 hedge plants (laurel), some fruit trees, and a box of pansies. Larry had the honor or planting the hedge and the trees and I planted the pansies! For some reason I didn't get any photos of the trees being planted, but here is Larry working hard planting the hedge.
These pansies have not grown one inch, but they still have flowers on them despite the fact that just a few days ago they were covered with about 8 inches of snow!
In December we bought 4 olive trees. Two of them are a few years older than the other two. The trees should outlive us by about 700 years and may even be there when our house is long gone!
Last week the boysenberry plants and raspberry canes I ordered from England arrived safe and sound. We had to wait a few days for the ground to dry out a little from all of the rain we had been having and luckily got them planted before the snow came.
Speaking of the rain....the river that runs through Belforte is really running right now. It is probably the highest we have ever seen it.
OK, it's time to go inside. Well, let's stop and look at our pizza oven first. We haven't actually cooked anything in it yet, but we have built a few fires to help season the oven. Apparently, this was a common design back in the day (you know, 500 years ago) to have the oven just
outside the front door.
Oops, sorry, I guess that I am out of time again! See you in a few days for the next installment of.....It's a Work in Progress!
